Bruiser Status: Available

Bruiser is an affectionate 2-year-old black male Dane with natural ears. He came to Rescue when he was surrendered by a good Samaritan that rescued him but could not keep him. His original owner starved him, teased and taunted him with cats, and threatened to “take him out and shoot him.” As a result, Bruiser does not get along with cats. Despite his abusive past, Bruiser is very affectionate and loving. His foster mom says, “Bruiser is definitely a leaner and a lover. He loves to stick his head under a blanket or anywhere that fancies him and rub his head back and forth. My three children have absolutely no problem controlling him and regularly take him for daily walks. His house manners are wonderful!” Bruiser is house trained and does great on a leash. He’s very curious and loves to explore. He gets along famously with other dogs and bonds well with men and women, even though he was raised with abusive men. “Bruiser loves to plop his bum on the couch and just sit there and watch TV with the family. He is truly a character!” his foster mom adds. “I love the way he sees every situation as an opportunity to either love, lean or play with you. His world is centered on his family and he only wants to be warm and comfy with whoever he is with.”

Valentine Status: Available

Valentine is a sweet 6-year old, Harlequin, female with natural ears. She was originally adopted out by RMGDRI but was returned when she nipped a small child that was taunting her. As a result, we feel that Valentine will do best in a home with older children that can treat her with respect. She loves to play outside and then snuggle with her "baby" inside. She likes to be covered with a blanket because I think it makes her feel loved and cuddly. Valentine gets along well with her foster brother and sister, and also is very good with cats, as she stayed in a home with a very playful cat and they got along great. She knows her basic commands and walks well with a gentle leader. She is very trustworthy with free roam and loves to sleep next to your bed at night on her own cushion. She doesn't need to go out during the night and will generally stay in bed as long as you do. Valentine is very smart and loving but looks to her pack leader for direction and boundaries.

Max Status: Profile Out

Max is a handsome 4-year-old male fawn Dane with natural ears and soulful eyes. He was surrendered to Rescue when his previous owners moved. Max is house trained, trustworthy with free roam and knows his basic commands. He gets along famously with his foster siblings. “Max needs a lot of loving attention from his humans and is a true Velcro Dane who prefers to always be in the same room as his human pals,” his foster mom says. “He is a very calm, 146-pound couch potato and would most likely do best in a calm environment.” Max walks well on a leash and uses a gentle leader, although he rarely pulls and heels well. He is very friendly with dogs, cats and humans of all ages. His foster mom adds, “Max’s heart is as soft as his velvety fur. His calm demeanor is contagious in our home for both humans and dogs, alike. I adore seeing his sweet face gazing up at me each morning to greet the day.” This sweet boy will make a loving and loyal addition to a family with the time, energy and love Max so deserves!

Tyson Status: Available

Tyson is a sweet 2-year-old black Dane/Lab mix with natural ears. He came to Rescue after being found as a stray in rural Nebraska (he conveniently turned up at a veterinarian’s house!). Tyson knows his basic commands, is house and crate trained, and is good with dogs, curious about cats and excellent with children. According to his foster mom, Tyson is a very fast learner. She says, “Tyson was found wandering the countryside, so we don’t know much about his past; however, since coming to the ranch he has been a great addition. He loves to play and when I go out to do the chores he is right beside me feeding the goats and horses. He is compassionate and he loves to be by your side and let you know that he is there to be your companion.” Tyson is a big lover. He needs a lot of loving attention from his humans and loves to be wherever you are. He loves to cuddle and will try to get on your lap. As Tyson has learned what toys are and that they are his, he loves to play with them! He is full of energy and needs to be exercised on a daily basis. He loves going on runs, for rides in the truck and playing tug-o-war. His foster mom adds, “Tyson is a loveable baby with a heart of gold.” He will make an excellent addition to a loving family with the energy to keep up!

Brutus Status: Profile Out

Brutus is a happy 1-year-old male fawn Dane with natural ears. He came to Rescue when his previous owner divorced and could no longer care for him. His foster mom says, “Brutus loves to be around his humans! He will follow you from room to room. He loves to play and loves to chew on toys. Brutus has a ton of energy and does better in the house when he has been exercised and given a chance to run and play at the dog park. Brutus is a young dog with a big heart and a lot of energy and should do well in almost any home.” Brutus gets along famously with dogs, cats and children. He does well on a leash, knows his basic commands and is fully house and crate trained. His foster mom adds: “Brutus will make you laugh! He is a total goof ball! Brutus is a super sweetheart and you can bring him anywhere you go because he gets along great with dogs and people alike.”

Victor Status: Medical hold

Victor is a friendly 6-year-old black and white male Dane with natural ears. He came to Rescue after being turned in as a stray to the Central Missouri Humane Society, which was overcrowded and reached out to RMGDRI. Victor is house and crate trained. We believe he may not have spent much time indoors as he is somewhat hesitant to walk on hardwood floors and prefers to find carpet to stand on. He is also just beginning to learn about toys. Victor’s foster family is working with him on his basic commands and showing him what it means to live in a secure environment. We have discovered that he is leary of men when in confined quarters; slow introductions are a must with the ability to retreat when he feels insecure. He is very mellow and well behaved in the house and is content to lie at his human’s feet. Victor is excellent with the two Danes he lives with. His foster mom says, ““The first time he went outside with our two young Danes who play rather rough he stood on the deck and barked as they jumped on each other and ran crazily around the yard as if to say, ‘Hey! Stop that craziness!’” She adds: “We love the fact that Victor accepted all of us – especially our two young, full of energy Danes! – who he flawlessly tolerates. You might think that a dog like Victor who so obviously has been neglected would hold a grudge, but he does not. He is a Dane with great dignity and grace. I know he will make someone a great companion. He is such a loving boy.”

Bonnie Status: Profile Out

Bonnie is a calm 2-year-old black female Dane with natural ears. She came to Rescue after being picked up as a stray with her breeding partner. She and her partner were turned out by their breeder after she had an early litter, and we believe they were running loose for about two months. Her foster mom says, “Bonnie is so trusting and friendly, and if you give her a bit of love, you'll win her heart forever. She is very friendly, and loves everyone she meets – the mailman is already her friend!” She adds that Bonnie is a mellow, relaxed girl, who can be quite the couch potato! However, she loves the outdoors too. Bonnie adores children and is friendly with dogs; however, because she was confined by the breeder, she does not like feeling trapped in a small space with other dogs. She would probably do best in a home where she is the only dog and the center of attention, as she craves human contact and loves to snuggle. Despite being unfamiliar with anything domestic, she has adapted quickly to indoor living, learned her basic commands and now sleeps every night beside her foster mom’s bed. This beautiful girl is very muscular and displays all the grace and nobility of a traditional Great Dane. Her foster mom adds, “She is just a sweet angel and loves her humans. She is so loving and trusting and has the gift of forgiveness. Her life began rough, but she still trusts everyone she meets and loves them.”

Champ Status: Pending Adoption

Champ is a beautiful 2-year-old Boston Merle Dane with natural ears. He came to Rescue when his previous owner went to prison. Nothing else is known about Champ’s past. His foster mom says, “Champ is wonderful to be around and to have around the house. His eyes will melt your heart. Champ loves our two children (ages 10 and 8) so much that he believes that his sleeping quarters should be with them on their beds.” Champ is good with dogs, cats and older children (his foster mom’s 8-year-old daughter is able to walk him). He has very unique markings and cool, light blue eyes. Champ is house and crate trained, and rides well in the car. His foster mom adds, “Champ’s heart is bigger than he is. He is a big lover and pulls on the heart strings of everyone who meets him. He could not care more about each family member. He insists on ensuring everyone knows how much he appreciates them with tons of kisses and hugs. Champ is truly a sweet soul and will be surely loved by the forever family who is fortunate enough to adopt him.”

Moses Status: Pending Adoption

Moses is a wonderful 5-year-old black male Dane with natural ears. He was to Rescue from a shelter near Amarillo, Texas, after he was found running as a stray. Moses came to Rescue very skinny with several healing wounds on his back. He is a very sweet, well-mannered boy and is good with dogs and children. He will do best with no cats as he likes to chase them. He absolutely adores his foster families 2-year old son and has no qualms about being a pillow for his head. His foster mom says, “When he came to our family on Thanksgiving, Moses was starved for affection. He loves to follow me around and lay at my feet. Moses is house and crate trained, knows most of his basic commands, walks well on a leash. When you pet him, he leans into you. When you are done petting him and try to walk away, he’ll lean into you as you walk! He’s a true ‘Velcro Dane.’” Moses loves car rides (he doesn’t like to be in the back seat and will claim the front immediately!). He also loves to play and give sweet kisses. His foster mom adds, “Moses has a charming personality. His sweet brown eyes always melt my heart.”

Teton Status: Profile Out

Teton is a playful 6-month-old black male Dane with natural ears. He was surrendered to Rescue by a breeder in Brush, Colo., when he could not place Teton or his sibling, Bruce. Teton came to his foster home with no training and is proving to be a very bright boy and a fast learner. He is already house trained and quickly learning his basic commands. Teton craves attention from his humans and is a typical Velcro Dane. He loves to be near his humans – if not touching them – at all times. Teton loves going to the dog park and taking walks. He gets along famously with other dogs, cats and children. His foster mom says, “I love how absolutely cuddly he is. He wants to be pet all the time and makes sure that he is available all the time—just in case the urge strikes you! He went from being an outside-all-the-time dog to a great family member in no time flat.” She adds, “Teton is just a big, loving puppy who can’t get enough petting and wants so badly to be part of a family.”

Teton has growing issues that are currently being investigated by RMGDRI's vet.

Bentley is a mellow 1.5-year-old mantle male Dane with natural ears. He came to Rescue after being sold on Craigslist and returned to his previous owner when the family decided they did not want him. Bentley is house and crate trained, knows his basic commands, and does well with dogs, cats and children (he currently lives with a baby and is proving to be a fast learner and a very gentle boy). He is still all puppy and should not be left home alone with free roam - crating is a must. His foster mom says, “Bentley is a big love! He follows from room to room and, though he is content just being with you, he would prefer to be touching you in some way. For being so young, Bentley really doesn’t act like a typical puppy. He’s pretty much laid back and easy going.” Bentley loves to go for walks and is very curious about his surroundings. His foster mom adds, “I love his great big, deep, brown eyes. When he looks at you with those puppy dog eyes, you really can’t help but love on him!”

Bentley suffers from IBS which will require him to eat high quality food to keep it under control and help him maintain a good weight.

Drako is a sweet 4-year-old male black merle Dane with cropped ears. His previous owner surrendered him to Rescue after he demonstrated leash aggression issues. Drako currently lives in a foster home with one other dog and after a slow start they are doing wonderfully together. He will never be a dog park dog and will either need to go to a home with no other dogs or just one other dog. Despite his issues with dogs, Drako has no aggression towards humans and gets along famously with children and visitors to the house. He is very well behaved and knows his basic commands. Drako is fully house trained and walks well with a gentle leader. He loves to have his neck rubbed and will bury his head in your lap to facilitate this! Because of this, Porsche has not had very much socialization or exposure to leashes, toys and other creature comforts; however, she is a wonderful and loving girl! Her foster mom says, “Porsche is a big lover and a leaner, and enjoys resting her head in your lap. She follows you around and shows interest in what you’re doing – especially when you’re cooking in the kitchen! She enjoys going for long walks and playing with my two-year-old son.” Porsche is house and crate trained, and many some of her basic commands; she is quickly picking up the rest. Because she is deaf, Porsche is learning her commands via hand signal, and she is proving to be a very intelligent girl! Her foster mom adds, “Porsche is such a comedian and is very entertaining.
