Zaida Status: Available

Hello, my name is Zaida. I woke up one day to find myself in Rescue when my owner had to go and move into one of those tiny apartment thingies where they frown on big girls, like me.

Not to toot my own horn, but I must confess that I have wonderful manners: I always come when you call, I never go in the house, and I do famously in my crate. I also get along with all types of humans – the big manly kind all the way down to the little tiny babies. However, I do require them to pay me lots of attention, as cuddling is truly the spice of life (just one woman’s opinion).

I’m okay with foster family’s cat, she really doesn’t bother me much. However, I would like to ask her one day why she likes to rub up against my face – personal space, people! And, if other dogs I met at the dog park were as playful as me, we would all get along quite swimmingly. I don’t know why they say I “lack social graces,” as I fancy myself quite the socialite. In fact, I am a proud graduate of the RMGDRI’s Board and Train Program – and that ain’t no easy feat, my friend. But sometimes I do suppose it’s better for my introductions to other dogs be slow, so we can give them ample opportunity to understand how exuberant and fabulous my personality really is.

When I’m not lounging around at home, taking walks is my fave – second only to relaxing on my snuggly bed with a chew. Mostly I just want to bask in my popularity and please you!

What do you think – would I make a nice companion?

Zoey Status: Available

Hi, I’m Zoey. I’m not much of a writer, so please bear with me.
In a nutshell, I’m a pretty well-behaved and easy going gal. I know my basic commands, walk well on a leash, and love everyone and everything around me (except for those pesky cats – what a nuisance!). Also, I loooove my kennel and don’t mind spending time in there when you have to leave the house to go do your people things. As I am a music aficionado, it’s best for me if you put a little a cool jazz or R&B on the radio when you take off – we’ll talk stations later …
Since I didn’t have many opportunities for social outings earlier in my life – what with being kept in the basement and outside like that – I’m only now beginning to understand and greatly appreciate the concept of PLAY. What a joy! It’s fun with dogs and people, but the best is when it involves a combination of the two.
Nowadays, my fave thing is to lie on my big, fluffy bed and hang out with you. But, I must confess, there are times during the day when I just get so filled with happiness that all I can do is zoooooooooooom! It is truly liberating and I highly recommend it.
I’m so grateful for all the love and support I am getting these days; it’s such a breath of fresh air! I make sure to demonstrate my appreciation to my family with extra kisses, leans, and happy, waggily tail. I’m a particularly chatty girl, and I also tell them how thankful I am each and every day using my voice.
My foster family has taken care of my physical needs with just the right amount of exercise. My arthritis isn’t very fun but they understand my needs and do everything short of waving a magic wand to make it go away. The good news is – after all their help I have no visible limp or limitations, and I’m totally medicine-free! They also listen to my witty dialogue (I have been told I can be a bit of an earful) and always care enough to ask about my day and all the goings on at home and with my foster siblings, whom I adore.
I’ve come so far, and now I’m just looking for a family that I can love, and that will love me back and help me continue to thrive. I see only good things ahead, and I hope that you can be part of it?

Saskia Status: Medical Hold

My name is Saskia. My foster family calls me “Sassy” because, what the heck, I am! Really, I can go by either name, but I enjoy consistency in life and would prefer that you pick one and just stick with it, already.

I was a very lucky girl when the Rescue found me, as I was starving and alone. It was scary, and it’s amazing how far I’ve come. I survived parvo and I had a badly healed fracture that still causes me to limp. However, I am an eternal optimist and I don’t let this injury get in the way of my energetic, puppy ways. It’s no biggie. Sometimes I just needs a 'doggy aspirin' and a nap after a long play session in the stream or at the dog park.

I’ve been told that I’m quite a looker and, while this is flattering, I prefer to focus on my inner beauty. I am intensely curious and engaged in the world around me, and I am highly social. Everyone who meets me loves me – and vice versa! I think friendships and family are the spice of life.

I live with five other dogs in my foster home and really enjoy the company. Give me an opportunity to play and I am all over that! I especially enjoy tug-o-war with my friends. Walks are fun, too, and I always stay close to my humans and other members of the pack.

My manners are impeccable, as I am fully house trained, crate trained and capable of using the doggie door (such an archaic term!). In my foster home I have picked up the house rules, boundaries and expectations very quickly.

Sometimes young men in their teens and twenties make me nervous, but I do my best with them and most of the time, we see eye-to-eye very quickly. Generally I am quite amicable with children, women and senior citizens of all shapes and sizes. What can I say? I’ve been through a lot in my short life, but ultimately I am full of joy and love. And you know what they say – you can’t take that away!

So that’s me in a nutshell: Play, cuddle, play, walk, play, learn, play, ride in the car, play, eat, play, play, PLAY!

Can you relate?

Stella - brindle Status: Available

Stella is a social and playful 5-year-old female brindle Dane with natural ears. She was returned to Rescue after her previous owners could no longer care for her. Her foster mom says, “I love Stella’s personality and her love and dedication towards her family. She loves interacting with us and always has a wagging tail and a soft, sweet face. I also love how smart and willing to learn she is.” Stella knows her basic commands and is very obedient and treat motivated. She is both house and crate trained, and she is trustworthy with free roam. When indoors, Stella is nothing but a sweet dog and loves attention and cuddles from her family. Outside, she is on guard and needs a strong owner that is willing to work with her and continue her behavioral training. Stella will excel with a dog-savvy, giant breed experienced family that has worked with behavioral issues and is willing to continue her training; she will do best in a home with no children, and where she is the only dog. Thus far, she has responded very well to training and continues to progress on walks and meeting new people. Stella is a very smart girl and will take advantage of a handler that hasn’t put the time and energy into working with her. She will need a special person that is confident, patient and that truly understands her issues and appreciates her spirited attitude. Stella doesn’t get on furniture and usually sleeps in her bed or on the floor next to her people. Her foster mom adds, “The list of what I truly love about Stella just keeps growing. I love how smart she is and how willing she is to learn new things. She is an excellent hiking, running and biking partner. Plus, she is a great traveler and car dog. I also love how she plays with her toys and shows them off to our guests. Everyone that has gotten to know Stella agrees that she is an amazing girl that had an unfortunate start to life. If I could adopt her I definitely would!”

Daisy Status: Available

Daisy is a sweet and loving 5-year-old black female Dane with natural ears and a docked tail. Her foster mom says, “We absolutely adore how affectionate Daisy is. She is such a super sweetheart! Daisy has mastered the combination of cuddling when her humans want to, and is also perfectly fine sleeping and spending time alone on her dog bed.” Daisy is trustworthy with free roam, knows her basic commands and is very affectionate; she absolutely adores people of all ages and sizes. She gets along well with the cats in her foster home and shows little interest in them. Formerly a very dominant girl, Daisy has improved greatly in this vein and has even begun to initiate play with her foster sister, trying to get her to run around the yard with her. When she’s not being a couch potato, one of her favorite pastimes is getting a good pet from her humans – she is particularly fond of the ear scratch! What’s more, Daisy is a huge cuddler and loves to curl up with or near her humans, take walks, and go for car rides. Her foster mom adds, “The fifth day we had Daisy, I came home from work for lunch and sat at the computer for a little bit … Daisy apparently thought this was not acceptable and wanted her ‘hello,’ so she started howling at me. She now greets us every time we come home with a little howl!” This sweet girl will make a loyal and loving addition to one lucky family with the time and energy to give her all the love she so deserves.

Meme Status: Available

I’ve been told that I’m “kind of like distilled sunshine in dog form.” I’m both flattered and slightly confused by this statement because, while I agree that I am a magnificently happy creature, I didn’t realize that I was a dog. Aren’t I just part of the family – like you?

Anyway, I don’t let these silly classifications stand in my way. Dog, human, pot-bellied pig … whatever! The point is, I am bursting with love! Since being separated from my first family after seven years together (dang and blast that no-dog rental housing they had to move into!), I spent two months at a shelter where I won over the staff with my glowing personality. And, now that I’m out of there, I’m loving on a new family and having a grand old time.

I like to play with dogs that are my own size. Because I can get overly excited and rambunctious, it’s also best if the dogs I play with are mellow and don’t try to bully me. Bullies are the worst! I live with other dogs now and I’m working on my manners with them and with new dogs. It helps me that I understand now that my family leads the pack and I don’t need to get dominant or jealous. Life’s too short!

When I’m indoors, I’m content just to be with you and chillax. My inside manners are impeccable, as I’m a successful graduate of the Board & Train program. Resume highlights include knowing all of my basic commands, being house and crate trained, and being totally trustworthy to cruise the house on my own.

When I’m not trying to give you sweet kisses or get my belly rubbed, one of my favorite things is to run outside. I pretend I’m in the Indy 500 – racing from point to point and taking curves with wild abandon. I would probably make an awesome running partner for you, if you fancy yourself a racecar driver, too?

Molly Status: Available

The Unsinkable Molly Brown has arrived!

I have seen more than my fair of shelters, but last time my owners never came to rescue me and left me wondering what I did so wrong. After much soul searching, I realized I didn’t do anything wrong, and set out to make their loss someone else’s gain.

After all, I am full of love, and all those happy feelings have to go somewhere – why not find a new family to share them with? I adore pretty much all of the four-legged creatures I meet – dogs, cats – you name it! I even love adult people, despite all I’ve been through with them. I can be a bit protective of my toys and treats, so when kids start rough housing around me I get nervous and need supervision. It’s easy to forget we’re just playing around when snacks are involved!

I fancy myself a lap dog, and no lap is too big or too small for me to cuddle up on. I’ve been nicknamed “Moaning Molly” by my foster family because I’m just so darned happy when I am nestled up on a lap.

Next to enjoying a good lap curl, I also like to go for walks and car rides, and romp around the yard with my Dane foster sibling. We play all sorts of games, but tag is my favorite. Speaking of tag, did you know that cats are really fun to sneak up on? I can get a great game of chase the cat going, but foster mom frowns on this so I’ve been learning to show restraint. After all, I want to please her most of all.

Let’s see, what else? Hmmm … I am a social butterfly and like to check everyone out; I love napping in sunbeams; and I can be a bit of a sneak if I don’t get enough exercise and have been known to wander out of the yard to explore the neighborhood. A secure yard, daily activity, and loads and loads of love all keep me content to stay put. To meet me is to love me! Can we schedule a play date soon?

Maggie Status: Available

“Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you.”
You’re a sweet, smart and gentle thing – and you’re only two!
“You stole my heart, and that’s what really hurt.”

Yep, that’s my song…

I’m Maggie and I am a beautiful (not to gloat) Dane mix with fawn coloring and natural ears. My foster family tells me how smart I am because I am learning all my basic commands so dang fast. What can I say? It’s my mission in life to please you 24x7, and I think I do a pretty good job at that.

I already mastered house and crate training and am totally cool just cruising about the joint unsupervised. I trust you so much, I figure it’s the least I can do for you to trust me, too. All I want for being such a good girl and a quick study is regular ear scratches, belly rubs and someone to cuddle with.

I love children and I can really wear them out when we play with all my toys in the yard. Because I’m still so young – and not to mention impossibly fresh looking! – I want my family to take the lead and show me the ropes so I don’t have to stress over anything. I bet I could do just about anything you wanted me to do with a little direction – just don’t ask me to leave your side! I’m a cuddler, a lover, and a massive treat monger. You will be the best treat ever if you will be my forever family.

That’s just how I am. You can completely make my day just by loving me. Maybe I could make your day, too?

Carmen Status: Available

My name is Carmen and I’m a very smart lady with eight years of life experience behind me and loads of intelligence in my eyes; yet, I’m puzzled by this concept of college. What I do know about it is that I don’t like it, because when my owner – who loved me since was just a tiny thing at six months old – left to go there, he couldn’t take me with him. I know it wasn’t because I did anything wrong, because I love everyone I meet and have no problem sharing a family with other critters in the house. I guess I just got a bad break.
The good news is, there’s lots of kindness in my foster family, so I don’t have to stop sharing my love while I look for my forever home. I’m a pretty low-key gal, I like to lie on my super comfy dog pillow and watch my foster family go about their day. Another favorite pastime is following my people around the house because, like me, they are super affectionate always take time to give me loves.
I get kid-sized hugs all the time, and in return, provide big, sloppy kisses. I have excellent manners, know all of my basic commands and walk nicely with just a regular collar. You don’t have to worry about me pulling or trying to run away. Where would I go that could be any better than right by your side?
Not to brag, but I am also trustworthy with free roam and have learned to use a very large doggie door. I take Rimadyl for my arthritis but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying walks, car rides and cruising from one family member to the next to get some cuddles (I love me a good cuddle!). But I know I can’t stay here forever because there are lots of other guys and gals like me who need a place to stay until they find their permanent homes, too.
When I find my wonderful forever family that will just let me love them, I will be truly content. In return, I will be the sweetest cuddle bug anyone could ever ask for. If you have a nice warm lap, I have the right sized head that will make for a perfect match. Please, I know you’re out there! Won’t you love me?

Maverick Status: Available

Hi, I’m Maverick! Do you like to scratch ears? If so, I could really see us getting along …

Because I spent some hard times on my own recently, I had some recovering to do. But thanks to the frequent baths foster mom gave me, my skin looks loads better and I’m back in action! I’m so grateful to have a full tummy and a warm bed for the first time in a long while. It was hard to be out on my own for so long, but with all this great food and TLC, I’m gaining weight like a prize fighter. My vet is also getting those pesky old heartworms out of me and we’re almost there! I’m bouncing back fast from the toll my body took during my time on the streets.

I’m only three years old, and I’ve got lots to look forward to. I’m a big boy and I know some of my basic commands – ask me to do anything, I’m on it! I’m boning up on the skills I don’t know yet but, truth be told, I’m also okay just lounging on my warm bed and cuddling with you and the rest of my family. I love to take walks and play with everyone – dogs, cats and children, alike. I am an equal opportunity lover!

Do you like to eat? I am definitely a foodie. When mom pulls out my dog bowl I can’t help but dance! My jig is akin to a two-step … or would that be four-step?

I’m so grateful for my new life and can’t wait to see what happens next. If you like to dance, too, maybe we could be friends?

Eva Status: Available

They should've called me Lady because that is exactly what I am.

I am a true sophisticated lady and love nothing more than to be treated with adoration and respect. Let's spend some quality time together snuggling and cuddling and I will be forever yours.

I was surrendered by my original family because I just couldn't tolerate all of the noise and commotion that went along with having a household with children. Mature and older kids are fine, but the commotion of running around yelling is just not my cup of tea. Otherwise, I definitely warm up to new people quickly and don't have any hesitation about showing affection. I do love to be chauffeured around in the car too and make an excellent driving companion. I know all of my basic commands and am looking forward to you teaching me some new ones as well!

Of course, I may be trusted to have free roam of the house and am fully housebroken. One peculiar habit I have noticed of humans is that they, at times, leave my food unattended on the counter; sometimes I just can't help it and have to say, "Don't mind if I do!" and help myself. I do suggest that if this bothers you that you don't leave food left in such easily accessible places because it is just TOO tempting! Such sweets are my Achilles' heel.

Pertaining to my animal companions, I think that cats are somewhat peculiar creatures, but I don't mind them being around so long as they're well behaved. Small dogs are quite charming and larger dogs aren't so bad either. I do prefer slow introductions with larger dogs as they often try to smell my rear -- how unrefined!

So, what do you say, would you like to be my date? If your idea of a lovely evening is slipping off your shoes when you come home from work, having a drink and talking about your day and then getting cozy on the couch, we were made for one another!

Maxx Status: Profile Out

Ready for his fairytale ending!
When Maxx arrived in rescue, he was skin and bones. His family surrendered him because they couldn't afford to buy his food and he was starting to have accidents around the house. Now that he has some quality food in him, Maxx has steadily been gaining weight. He has also been seen by a vet and we figured out that the cause of his incontinence is Wobblers Syndrome. Maxx has been started on Rimadyl and has improved greatly. He has now become very proficient at telling his human when he has to go outside so he doesn't have an accident in the house.
Maxx is a truly exceptional dog. He has bowled over EVERY SINGLE person he has met with his amazing personality. Sometimes in your life you meet someone that has an intangible quality that touches people's hearts.... Whatever that quality is, Maxx has it. Maybe it is that he has been through so much in his few years, but he is a soulful boy that affects people in inexplicable ways.
Still very much so a pup, Maxx loves to romp around and go to the dog park and on walks. Because of his Wobblers his activity level has to be monitored so he doesn't over exert himself, but try to break it to him easy because he just wants to have fun! Maxx is also trustworthy with free roam and learning all of his basic commands. He does very well with other dogs, cats and kids and adores the attention.
If you want to give a truly sad story a very happy ending, please ask about Maxx and he will pay you back tenfold, guaranteed.

Moses Status: Available
Moses supposes his toeses are roses,
But Moses supposes erroneously,
For Moses should knowses his toeses ain't roses,
As Moses supposes his toeses to be.

Moses has spent his whole life with the same family and they had to regrettably surrender him to RMGDRI due to changes in their housing and financial situation. Moses is a little bit confused by all this, but is looking forward to meeting the person that will take care of him the rest of his years.

Moses is really smart and proficient at lots of tricks and commands, such as: sit, stay, down, whoa, shake and gentle (just to name a few). He walks well on lead too, and while he doesn't have a ton of interest in getting rowdy with them, he does well with well-mannered dogs and older children too.

Moses is pretty athletic and handles long, brisk walks like a champ. He also likes to play tug-o-war, but most of the time Moses can be found pretending that he's a cat, sunning himself during the day and catching up on his beauty sleep.

Poor Moses does get lonesome on occasion. During the day when he's left at home alone, he has been known to howl the blues. He is trustworthy with freeroam and is learning how to use a doggie crate, but has told us that he'd prefer a home where someone isn't gone for a full eight hours a day as he just adores to have human companionship.

There's nothing more this guy wants than to snuggle up on the couch together and watch his favorite movie, "Singin' in the Rain," waiting patiently for his favorite line:

"Moses supposes his toeses are roses,
But Moses supposes erroneously,
For Moses should knowses his toeses ain't roses,
As Moses supposes his toeses to be."

Come on baby! Let's do the twist. Take me by my little hand … and go like this!

What can I say, I’m a dancer at heart. I especially love to do the twist when you come home – everything just wiggles! Some people might get self conscious, I just go with it.

I’m a self-proclaimed cuddle-bug and can’t help but love on everyone I meet. My last family would have kept me around forever if only they had one of those money trees in the back yard. Turns out, they had to move and I just wasn’t able to go. The good news is, there is a new family out there just waiting to dance with me!

I promise I will maintain my impeccable manners for you, which include: social prowess with other dogs, cats and children; proficiency of all my basic commands; aptitude with all things outdoorsy (leash walking, car rides, etc.); expertise with the potty. And, did I mention I can dance? Sorry to be redundant … but with legs like these? Come on!

I don’t mean to suggest I can’t be mellow. After all, I like a nice lounge session on the couch as much as the next person. In fact, snuggling in front of the tube is one of my best things. I’m also learning all about playing ball and fetching my stuffed squeaky toys, which are both phenomenally new and fascinating activities for me.

I guess you could say that to meet me is to love me – and to get lots and lots of love back. What do you say? Let’s hit the dance floor! We’d be doing the world a disservice not to.

I am the All-American Dog! Are looking for a friend that loves to lay by your feet and give kisses as much as going for a walk or short jog, I'm definitely your boy!

If the words "sweet, good-natured and lovable" describe what you're looking for, who you're really looking for is me! I am super easy to get along with and I really adore being around other dogs, cats and nice children too. After a couple of days of living with you and getting used to my new surroundings, I will make myself right at home like we're long lost friends. I love to go for a romp in the yard or play tug with my favorite stuffed toy, and am careful to not play too rough. Do you like to go for walks? ...I do too! I even know how to walk well with just a regular buckle collar; I also know some other tricks, like sit, stay and drop-it, just to name a few. Oh, wait a minute, did you say snuggle time? If you did, that's great, because I am equally as happy nuzzling up with you or taking a nap in front of the fireplace.

So how did someone ever let me go? Well, about a year ago I was diagnosed with something called Addison's Disease and my family surrendered me to RMGDRI. With Addison's, that means that I have to take one little pill every day and get quick shot once a month. Just so you know, this don't bother me a bit and if I didn't tell you, you'd never even know I have this pesky disorder. The best part is that with Addison's, you live just as normal and long of a life as any other doggie, I just have to have my medication. It's not such a bad deal, huh?

Leaving my family was a sad transition for me, but I am definitely picking up the pieces and I've been promised that someone will come along and love me just as much as I will love them this time. Now, exactly where are you hiding??

Carpe diem! Hey, I’m no Latin major, but I know the importance of making the most of each and every day.
In addition to knowing all of my basic commands (and being anxious to learn more), I am housebroken, crate trained and good with free roam – just as long as you don’t have too many tasty treats within my reach on the counter to tempt me.
I must confess to having a bit of a stubborn streak but, what can I say? I’m a Taurus. It’s in my DNA. On the plus side, I make a fabulous watch dog and an awesome running partner. Not to intimidate you, but I’ve been known to catch a snake or two in my time. In truth I have way too much energy to go around. So, if you are adventurous and like to get out and about, I will stick close to your side.
What’s more, I don’t have any body image issues. In fact, I think I’m kind of dashing! My docked tail is quite the selling point, so I’m told, as I won’t clear off the coffee table when I’m happy to see you. And, not to brag, but I have my Canine Good Citizen and have impeccable manners around other dogs and children. I’m pretty much stellar around any human I come in contact with. Also, I love my visits to the doggie daycare and dog park, and I can always find a canine friend to chum around with. I guess I was just born charismatic and outgoing.
Case in point: Foster mom owns a store and I have charmed more than my fair share of folks into a sale or two. I’m still honing my technique, but here’s a tip: It’s most effective if you escort them around the place and give them ample opportunity to scratch your ears and comment on how adorable and sweet you are.
So, that’s me in a nutshell. If you are adventurous and playful like me, maybe we could seize many days together?

They say it’s the simple things in life that matter most, and I would have to agree. After all, my favorite activities are eating and being loved. I know it’s not akin to running a marathon or anything, but these things still constitute “activities,” right? Mostly, I just want to be where you are, please you, and show you how much love I have to give. After all I’ve been through, that’s good enough for me.
Overall, I’m not afraid of much. The stairs kind of freak me out – going down, not up – and foster family is helping me overcome my fears. They also have me on a high-calorie diet and heartworm medicine which, I’m told, is very good for me and will make me feel better.
Foster mom and dad totally trust me to cruise the house when they are gone. I don’t take this responsibility lightly – holding down the fort is one of my best things. I’m also very good at meeting new people and never shy away from a good scratch from anyone.
I mentioned my fondness for eating, and it’s no small thing. Question of the day: Which is the tastier culinary surprise, peanut butter or cheese? It’s quite the pressing conundrum as they are equally magnificent, in my humble opinion. I’m also currently debating the merits of large treats versus small. You would think the larger the better, right? But I’m not so sure.
Next to food, I think humans are quite possibly the coolest thing on Earth. I’ve met a lot of them over the years, some nicer than others, and ultimately it just comes down to one thing: love. In fact, I tend to think of myself as a “love sponge” (if you are a visual learner and that analogy helps). I’m good at it, giving it, receiving it, and making it grow.
Maybe, if you are good at love too, I could add some more to your life?

Frisbees … rope toys … balls … playing outside … playing inside … foster mom … These are all things I love. I also love other dogs, cats and kids. The list just goes on and on. Taking baths is really the only thing I can think of that doesn’t thrill me.
When I’m not playing, I usually spend my time following foster mom around from room to room. I believe it is my obligation to check on her and make sure she is being loved on a consistent basis. Also, I wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity for a nice pat on the head or scratch behind the ears due to my own lack of attentiveness.
I’m not a rocket scientist or anything, but I consider myself a pretty smart boy. I don’t chew or bother anything that isn’t mine, and I know my basic commands and understand that I need to go potty outside. Oh yeah, I also figured out how to open foster mom’s child gate, but she frowns on that so now I focus on other things.
I guess you could say the best word to describe me is happy. Some days I just can’t stop smiling, especially now that I’m feeling safe and secure in my new home. And, in addition to my terribly shiny spirit, most people say I’m a pretty trusting fellow. If you love me, I will love you back.
So, what do you say?

Ahhhhhhhhh, sweet relief! I’m warm, I’m full, and I’m loved – what an upgrade! These past few months have really thrown me for a loop, always wondering if I was going to have any food to eat or be let out of that darn kennel. I’m telling you, the ambiguity of it all can really take its toll on a guy.
But I’ve bounced back like a champ! I guess I just have good genes that way. Since I’ve been sprung and come to live with my foster family, life just keeps getting better and better. We go for walks, take rides in the car (a personal fave), and there is no shortage of stuffed, squeaky toys and balls for me to play and fetch with. Ooh, and the amount of grass for me to roll around in here is definitely something to write home about!
I’m pretty quick to the punch and have been told I have a very solid temperament, but sometimes shadows and reflections give me anxiety and I get a little OCD about them. But we all have our neuroses, right? What can I say, I’m aware of the problem and I’m working on it.
I’m pretty cool with other dogs and am totally relaxed around kids – they are so highly sniffable! Mainly I just try to keep foster mom in sight at all times – preferably right by my side, just to make sure she’s doing ok and being well-loved. Also, this provides her with easy access to my ears and belly, both of which require regular scratching.
So what do you say about making me your walking-running-playing-lounging-scratching-loving partner?

It’s amazing what a positive attitude can do. After all I’ve been through over the past several months – the divorce, the kennels, the constant state of hunger – it’s amazing I can be optimistic at all. But I refuse to let those unfortunate circumstances bring me down, Bruce!
I mean, I have so many good qualities, I figure why not focus on those? For example, I walk like a pro, I know my commands, and I am totally house and crate trained. I also do well with free roam, although I can be tempted when there are tantalizing treats on the counter – but hey, I’m only human! Who isn’t tempted when the schmecken beckon?
Also, I love to go for walks and rides in the car – talk about sensory overload. The world is truly your oyster, if you think about it. When I’m inside the house, I’m very calm, cool and collected, and when I go outside I love to romp and stretch my legs. It’s such a magnificent alternative to that stinky old kennel they used to keep me in all day. Play time is especially fun with my two foster siblings, Gus and Dude. They like me a lot, but that’s only natural. I mean come on, what’s not to like?!
Truth be told, my favorite thing is to be right next to you. All I ask for is a little food, water, space to run, and the assurance that you will be kind to me. Oh, and one other special request – lots and lots of affection. In exchange, I promise to return all the love I can muster and, let me tell you my friend, that’s a lot!

Arthur Status: Profile out

Hi everybody, my name is Arthur. Although I am still just a sprightly pup at the ripe young age of one, I have been told that I have the demeanor of an elderly man! It’s probably because I am not one of those hyper pups that don’t know how to contain themselves. I’m quite the reserved and mellow gentleman.

I credit my generally calm disposition to my time on the streets – you really can’t get too excited about anything. But, as a result of my time in the shelter, I do tend to lose it when my humans aren’t around. What can I say, I’m a cuddle bug! In fact, the first three days I was with my foster family, we lounged in bed for three whole days! Hey, someone has to be there for mom when she has the flu.

What makes me happiest in the whole wide world is to be by your side (or in your lap). That kind of proximity is such a relief to me after all I have been through. I would prefer to live with a family where someone is home most of the time. I’m not agoraphobic or anything, I just really dislike being put in that stinky old kennel where I can’t see or touch you.

As much as I don’t like it when you leave for the day, I am great hanging solo when the rest of the family goes to bed for the night. Also – an added bonus – I know all of my basic commands and I am totally potty trained.

I like to play with all the fun squeaky toys that I have and I will not turn down a good chew bone. Who would?! My favorite thing to do (when I’m not cuddling with you) is to take long walks and go with mom to run errands. Foster mom also takes me to the dog park a few times a week, and – oh boy! – do I love to romp around with other dogs. I am working on leash training and within no time I will be a champ. I love to run and play in the yard and will do best with a six-foot fence, as my jumping skills would qualify me for the Olympics.

I currently live with two cats, a small dog and an 8-year-old girl, all of whom adore me. Lucky for me, the feeling is mutual, we are just buds like that. I will tell you that I have no idea how big I am – kind of the opposite of “objects in the rearview mirror being larger than they appear” – but I do know that babies and toddlers do not have big enough laps for me to sit on, so I would prefer to have older children around that understand my uniquely gigantic stature.

All in all, I’m just looking for a loving forever home with a family that will never ever abandon me again. Is that too much to ask?

Clepto Status: Available

I’m not sure why they call me “Clepto” because I have never taken anything from anyone in my life. Actually, that’s not true. I am a bit of a love clepto … but I figure that is okay because I give whatever love I take back to you tenfold!

In addition to my generous nature, I should mention that am also extremely enthusiastic about life and a complete joy to be around. I’m a worldly woman with sophistication and manners. My energy precedes me, and I love to go for runs and walks, and to play with toys and humans. I am also great with cats and other dogs, although I can be nervous in new situations around people. I guess I just wasn’t born a socialite, like so many of my friends. The good news is, I am awesome all by myself when left indoors, and I am totally potty trained.

Anyhow, my previous owner got real sick and that’s what landed me here, looking for a new family to love. It’s true what they say, life isn’t always fair, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason.

Could you be the reason I’ve been looking for?

Mollie Status: Profile out

Good Golly, Ms Mollie
is back in Rescue…

Why can’t I find a forever family to love and be loved by? I’m a beautiful Black SF, 5 years old with natural ears. I’ve been bounced around from family to family and now I’m feeling very unloved and insecure. I still want to love a forever family. I am good with cats and dogs although I can be very possessive of my meals. I’m sure you can understand why. I have very sensitive feet and nail clippers scare the heck out of me. I’m housebroken, need a little work with not pulling while on the leash and I’ve had the gastropexy surgery to help prevent bloat. I just want a loving family that will make me part of the family and keep me as their forever companion.

Hurley Status: New to Rescue

When you look up “Gentle Giant” in the dictionary, you’ll see my picture with the caption, Handsome Hurley. I am an adorable Fawnequin, NM, Dane / Anatolian Shepherd mix with natural ears. I am a big baby at 125lbs and still have some growing to do. I am quite unique in that I have one blue eye and one green eye. Everyone I meet says I am gorgeous. So why am I here? My original family’s 20 month old developed severe allergies to me, so one of us had to go. They didn’t want to make this decision, but hey, I understand. I love everyone I come in contact with from babies to adults and all shapes and sizes of dogs. Cats??? What’s a cat? If they love me, I’ll love them I figure. I know most of my basic commands; will walk nicely on a leash; and am crate trained and housebroken. I’m very trustworthy with free roam, but remember, I’m still a puppy so leave me some appropriate chewy toys and I’ll be fine. I am a lover and miss being in a devoted family. Please let me love you…

Mona Lisa Status: New to Rescue

Pretty as a picture best describes me. I am Mona Lisa and I’m a 2yr old Fawn Dane with natural ears. My family surrendered me because they are expecting a new mouth to feed, and they felt they wouldn’t have time for me. I am CKC registered, I know my basic commands and I’m housebroken. I’m good with other dogs and cats and love to play with kids. Because I’m still basically a big puppy, sometimes I don’t know my own size and get too rambunctious when I play. I tend to want to pull on my leash and am very afraid of water. I’m also a very sensitive girl and have been known to turn my nose up at my food until I feel comfortable in a new situation. If you want a girl who will draw attention and admiration from people, I’m your girl.
