The Hamlet Award

Hamlet was seized by Sergeant Milton Gras from his previous owner on 2-01-05 for neglect and starvation. Sergeant Gras was horrified at the skinny, lifeless Dane he found lying on the floor in the bedroom when he arrived. He told us that he really wasn't sure Hamlet was going to make it because he had clearly given up on life and didn't even get up to greet him when he entered. Click here for the full Hamlet's Story.

The volunteers of RMGDRI were so inspired and thankful for the services of Sergeant Gras that we created and designed a new award called the "Hamlet Award." The first award was presented to Sergeant Gras. Annually, one special individual who stands out in their efforts to help one or more of our very special Danes will be selected for the award.

First Annual Hamlet Award
Sergeant Milton Gras was presented the first annual Hamlet Award on April 9th, 2005 by Vice-president Lindsay Condon at RMGDRI's volunteer meeting. Milt received loud and grateful applause by the board of directors and all of the volunteers. It is through efforts such as Milt's that we are able to save many of the Danes we get into rescue. Thank you so much Milt for your efforts in making this a better world for Hamlet. Through your action you will inspire many others to help us make this a better world for all Great Danes.
Milt had to get some Dane love from Duke, Gracie and Gypsy while he was there!

Second Annual Hamlet Award
Dr. Rob Landry of TLC Animal Hospital in Lafayette, CO was presented the 2nd Annual Hamlet Award on Sunday, January 29th, 2006 by Vice President, Lindsay Condon.

RMGDRI chose Dr. Landry as this year's recipient due to the incredible care and devotion he has shown to our rescue Danes. In addition to routine care, Dr. Rob has helped better and save the lives of some of our biggest medical cases, including Boswell, Truffle, Lady, Sage, and most recently TJ.

He has spent countless nights and weekends working after hours for our Danes and shown a kind of sincerity and commitment to his patients which is truly unmatched in our experience. We continue to be blown away by his talent and expertise.

We feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing professional who truly loves animals and has devoted his life to bettering their lives!
