Meet Buster - 2011 Grant Recipient
Buster (formerly Myster) was adopted from RMGDRI by Jason & Kim of Auorira, CO and has become a much-loved member of the family.

Buster began to lose his appetite and have trouble breathing. After numerous trips to the vet's office for extensive testing, Buster was diagnosed with Chylothorax which is a condition where the thorax is leaking fluid into the chest cavity causing difficulting in breathing. The surgical procedure to resolve this issue is a Thoracic Ligation which has been estimated to cost between $3500 and $4,300 with our discount.

Prior to approaching RMGDRI for assistance, the only means for keeping Buster comfortable was to tap his chest every 4-7 days to relieve the pressure around his lungs from fluid build up. Jason & Kim's financial situation was quickly becoming desperate and paying for the needed surgery was out of the question.

RMGDRI is happy to announce that Buster will get his much needed surgery through our PAW It Forward Grant program.

Thanks to Aspen Meadows Veterinary Specialists, Buster was able to get his surgery prior to RMGDRI raising all the funds.
Buster anxiously awaits for his big day.

Day 2
I'm really enjoying babying your baby... He is such an awesome boy! Here are some pics from today. One is me maintaining his temporary chest tube and the other is him enjoying some fresh air on his afternoon walk. More to come! I'll be sad when he's all better and has to go home!

Day 3
Buster has been a very good boy. He continues to produce air and fluid in his chest tube so he is connected to a continuous suction unit. Here are pictures of his new treatment set up and taking a quick snooze.
