Long Term Resident - Bridget

Bridget came to us two weeks ago and gave us the opportunity to care for her. At age 10 she suffers with severe arthritis and she is quite thin at 87 lbs at last weigh in, but she is steadily gaining weight each week. Bridget is very loving and proves to be very generous with the bag of toys she came to us with and will share it all with Sasha. Sasha is our 9 yr old Dane who keeps her company. Bridget is very attached to her foster dad and lives for the moment he comes home and can smother him with kisses. She has difficulty holding her bowels and is very anxious about going up and down stairs, she also has some trepidation about walking on hardwood floors (unless they are covered with rugs that is). Bridget is a wonderful addition and she is a joy to have in our home for however long that may be.

4/19/10 - I’m writing to let you know that Bridget had a neuro assessment and x-rays done on Friday and as it turns out, she has a disk that is pressing on the nerves in her lower back resulting in the weakness in her hind end, which explains her incontinence and trepidation with stairs. Her arthritis is actually very minimal if any at all. Good news to some degree, which means her pain level is not as bad as we all thought. As a result, she has been taken off her meds, and PT and supplements are recommended.

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY!

01/18/2011 - Bridget seems to be doing just fine. Her body is I guess you could say “adjusting” to the cold and seems to do much better off any medications. We had her on gabapentin, but wasn’t improving any and noticed she is better off of it. Still an occasional “accident”, but all in all not too bad…we all have adjusted to her she is doing just fine.
