all levels!
We
welcome applicants for foster care, fundraising, events, transports, clerical
help, board members, legal consultants, marketing, publishing, training, crafts
and any other service you have to offer that you think can benefit Rock Mountain
Great Dane Rescue.
You
don’t have to be an expert or specialist to be a valuable volunteer
– all you have to do is love Great Danes and be willing to give
a little bit of your time, effort or countless other resources to make
a huge impact for our Danes.
Volunteer
commitments can be as little or as much time as you choose to give. We understand
that lives are busy these days – if you can only help out one hour a
week, we'll find a task that suits your schedule. You can volunteer from home,
or come out and work with the dogs!
At Rocky Mountain Great
Dane Rescue, we are contacted several times daily about taking in dogs that
have run out of options. Many times, these dogs only have a few days left
to live and it's very difficult to say no. Obviously, the more foster homes
we have, the more dogs we can save. Fostering dogs can be emotionally challenging,
but is also one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime. We prefer
that our foster homes keep a dog until placement, however that is not mandatory.
If at any time you feel as though things are not working out for you or the
dog, we will promptly try to locate a new foster home. If you are interested
in fostering one of our Gentle Giants, please submit the Foster Application,
and we will be in touch for a phone interview and to schedule a home visit.

Public
Events
We
at Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue attend many dog related and other public
events throughout the year. When we go to an event we need volunteers to setup
and work a booth. At these events, our main objectives are to educate the public
about the rescue, and bringing our adoptable Great Danes out into the public
to meet new people. A senior volunteer is always in attendance at these events
to train and assist new volunteers and if you don't have a Great Dane of your
own but would like to bring one to an event with you, we'll work with our foster
families to arrange one for you.

Fundraising
Rocky
Mountain Great Dane Rescue is a non-profit organization and we derive our operating
funds from donations and fundraising functions. We have several grand fundraising
events throughout the year, and many smaller fundraisers happening all the time.
If you are interested in being involved in a planning committee, managing a
fundraiser, or if you just have a great idea that you'd like to run with, we'd
love your help and we'll answer any questions you may have.

Technical
We
have many duties tasks that can be done from the comfort of your own home. As
a volunteer, you might be interested in application processing. For every adoption
applicant, we conduct a phone interview and reference checks over the phone
as the first step in the application process. We are always shorthanded in this
arena, and even helping with one application per week can significantly improve
our turnaround time on getting dogs adopted. The more dogs we get adopted, the
more homes we free up for other dogs in need! We are also in need of record
cleanup – if you have a computer with access to the internet, and a knack
for organization, you're in the right place!
We
are always looking for ways to improve online communication, information storage
and website design. If you have the skills to help out in any of these areas,
let us know!
Home
Checks
Home
checks are performed for every prospective adopting individual or family. We
like to make sure that the new home has certain required elements to ensure
a safe and successful adoption. It doesn't take long and can be very rewarding.
You meet new people who are very interested in Great Danes and you make new
friends through this process. We do require that a Great Dane accompany the
volunteer to all home checks so it is recommended though not mandatory that
you own a Great Dane.
Transporting
Danes
Hit
the road! We often receive our Danes via the various animal control and humane
society organizations. When this occurs we need to retrieve the dog and put
him/her into a home situation or get them in for vetting. When this occurs we
ask those volunteers who can transport Danes to do so. Sometimes this will come
on short notice, and other times we will have a few days to arrange things.
Some transports are local; some can be across long distances though we've done
very well splitting up the legs with volunteers across the regions we cover.
Crafters
& Bakers
Handmade
items and goodies are always a hit at events and the craft fairs and bake sales
we attend throughout the year. We sell such items as dog coats and dog toys
to wine coasters and flavored salts. Want to tap into your creativity for a
