Jasmine

On January 27th, we were contacted by a small rescue called Paws and Claws in Arkansas pleading for help for a young female Dane named Jasmine. They were asked to go rescue a number of dogs who were in trouble and you can see the horrible conditions they encountered when they arrived in the photos below. Jasmine was only one of many who were in desperate need for medical care and they needed our help! The local Dane rescue was not in a position where they could pay for her medical bills, so we were happy to step in and offer our assistance.

Jasmine's leg is so infected that it is rotting and looks like she has a sock or something on her foot in the photos. That is her actual leg which is clearly dying and she needs to have it amputated immediately. She was put on strong antibiotics and her surgery was scheduled for the following Wednesday. She was too sick to be transported immediately, so we spoke to Dr. Fletcher in Arkansas and she graciously agreed to work with our rescue at the same discounted rates as she offers Paws and Claws. The nice people at Paws and Claws also agreed to take care of her until she has recovered enough to make the trip to CO for the remainder of her treatment and recovery.

Jasmine underwent surgery and everything went really well. Dr. Fletcher was very pleased with the results and feels confident that Jasmine will be up in no time! There are a couple photos of her prior to the operation. We hope to have some post-op pics very soon.

Jasmine was up and walking the day after her surgery if you can believe it! She gets around extremely well without that nasty leg. She squats to pee like a pro. You'd never even know she was missing a leg! She is a very happy and playful girl and has a fighting spirit that amazes us all!

She was spayed yesterday and will start heartworm treatment on Monday. She'll be on her way to Colorado in another week and we are very excited to meet this special girl in person soon. Many thanks to Dr. Fletcher for taking such wonderful care of her and preparing her for the wonderful new life ahead of her!

After a long trip from Hot Springs, Arkansas all the way to Denver, Colorado, with an overnight stay in Wichita Saturday night, Jasmine arrived safely to her foster home finally on Sunday! Many thanks to Monta, Scott & Autumn, and Laura for their help with the transport.

The first night she was very scared and timid and clearly overwhelmed with all she had been through. However, less than 24 hours later she is a completely different girl! Jasmine is very special indeed and has a playful, loving personality. She actually got the zoomies in the yard and had a ton of fun playing in the snow. She is amazingly active and mobile and being limited to three legs does not hold her back at all.

Jasmine appears to do wonderful with other dogs! She is living in a foster home with 3 permanent dogs of all sizes and they all get along very well. Today she is starting to flea bite and wrestle with her new friends and showing her puppy attitude. She loves treats and is very eager to please and gives the sweetest kisses!

Molly (formerly Jasmine)

Jasmine went to her forever home with Dana, Steve and their two dogs, Jake and Elwood. There is a dog bed full of blankets and water bowels in every room, daily walks, and lots of love! Jasmine had a pretty bed waiting for her, and she took to her new family right away. Dana and Steven have rescued many dogs and are incredibly patient and kind, which is exactly what Jasmine needs! They have decided to rename her Molly.
