Lovey
Lovey's previous family loved her very much, but sadly fell on some hard times financially. During the time that Lovey was with them, she struggled with a sensitive stomach and what they thought were allergies. The vet performed a number of tests including a full blood panel, enzyme testing, and they experimented with a variety of different kinds of food trying to eliminate the diarrhea and rash, while also trying to put some weight on her at the same time. They didn't have much luck with the things they tried and Lovey dropped down to 94 lbs. After exhausting their resources on her care, Lovey's family realized that they were in over their heads. They could not afford to do any further testing and decided to contact RMGDRI at that time to seek our help.

Lovey went to Brown Veterinary Hospital in Colorado Springs earlier this week. The first issue they had to deal with was a broken tail from an accident at doggy daycare. Dr. Grose attempted to repair the tail with stitches first, but somehow Lovey managed to get her e-collar off and re-injured the tail to the point of no repair by chewing and licking at the bandage. She had to undergo surgery on Tuesday to amputate part of her tail to fix the injury. Everything went very well and Lovey will remain at the hospital for a while so that she can have constant supervision to ensure that the tail heals properly before being released to go to her foster home.

In order to address her tummy problems, Dr. Grose has sent away a stim test to check for Addison's disease and we should have the results in a couple days. The next step (if it isn't Addisonia) will be a biopsy of her Intestines to determine whether or not she is suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Lovey is skin and bones right now and really needs some prayers that we can determine what is causing her problems and get her on the road to recovery as quickly as possible!

Lovey is doing much better now! She has gained 7 lbs in a week and is eating very well.

Her tail is healing up quite nicely and she will get her sutures removed next Tuesday. She should be ready to go home to her foster home by Wednesday.

Dr. Grose got the results back from the stim test as well and everything looked normal. We are relieved to know that she does not have Addisonia!

Dr. Grose is very encouraged by the progress we are making and feels that a change in environment may have been all the doctor ordered. We will keep our fingers crossed that she continues to put on weight and remains healthy and happy.

Lovey had her sutures removed yesterday. Everything looks great and the tip of her tail is just scabbed over at this point. She has an e-collar on for the time being to prevent her from licking. Dr. Grose decided just to be safe he would like to keep her at the vet for a few more days. She will finally be ready to go to her foster home on Monday.

Lovey weighed in at 100 lbs today, so she continues to make progress in the weight department. We are very happy with how well she is doing and feel confident she will be ready to go to her forever home very soon!

Lovey finally got to come home to her foster home last night. She looks wonderful! You can't see a single rib and she was bouncing around in her excitement. Dr. Grose gave her a clean bill of health when he released her, so she is excited to meet her forever home any day now.

Lovey is doing really well on the Eagle Pack Natural. There has been no diarrhea, no rashes, no signs of allergies or tummy troubles for quite some time now. We have been supplementing her diet with Prozymes and her last dose of antibiotics was last night, so it appears to have done the trick. We are happy to report Lovey has made a full recovery!
