The Search for a Great Dane Named Clyde |
|||||||
Have you seen this dog, a Great Dane named Clyde who was last seen swimming in the flooded streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. When the levees in New Orleans
broke after Hurricane Katrina, Clyde's owner, a disabled retired Navy
veteran, built a raft for Clyde and their other dog, but as the waters
rose, he didn't have the strength to get Clyde into the raft. His owner
was then airlifted out by helicopter leaving Clyde to swim for his life.
Clyde is 8 years old has a wide head with a short pointed snout with black mask and graying around the mouth. He has a curly tail most of the time with black tip. His coat is more Golden and his belly is light faun. He has short ears and sometimes the right ear turns under. His front claws are sensitive. He looks a little like a Great Dane / Shepard mix. He had surgery to remove a tumor so has a scar under his fur on his right back haunch. The skin had to be pulled together so the fur forms a ridge where two sections of fur were joined, maybe 6-8 inches long.
